International nurses day

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
12/05/2017
PRESS STATEMENT FROM SETH DUODU

International Nurses Day in the year 2017 under the theme:
“Nursing : leading voice – Better Goals achievement for Development”.
Nurses are doing great day in day out and deserve the praises as today is the international nurses day. I commend you on the hard work and the quality of service without discrimination. You have committed yourselves to a good purpose and you deserve this day.
This year’s theme is a very good one but needs more hard work to achieve it in so many countries.

I will like come down to nursing in Africa and specifically Ghana. Are they regarded? Well Auntie Nurse is a title and socially respected title though. We all know the challenges you are encountering in this service but we also believe you can still do better. We hope all nurses contribute to a better health delivery in Mother Ghana than we have Today. Be nice to we the patients because someone of us if not me can be your brothers, sisters and even parents. Keep treating us as you will do to your family.

Another thing I wish to address is the use of “protocols” (Back door) in the hospitals and clinics. We know it’s necessary but sometimes those without protocols have more genuine cases.

To the government, we appreciate the work and policies so far on health but we expect delivery and more improvements in the sector. Health a fundamental to development and it cannot be forsaken. Proper functioning of insurance, highly trained nurses and doctors, infrastructure , well equipped facilities and good transportation systems should be a major development in your four years administration.

I believe so many nurses don’t know today 12th May is the international nurses day but I still wish them a happy nurses day. Whether salaries are increased, allowances are restored, facilities are available and well equipped or not, we expect you to give us quality health care. I as an individual, will not forget this day not withstanding my late release of my statement.

God Bless all Nurses.
Long Live Everyone.
Thank you Nurses.
